The
Jocky Gym has been around for a long time. Currently, Jocky Gym is operating
under numerous names: Jocky Gym, Kaenorasing, Chumpaetour, and possibly
even more…
The gym is located in Bang Po. With many ways to
get there, the best ways are:
1. take the river boat ferry to Bang Po Pier. Jump
on a motorcycle taxi or cab to “Talad Ke Ma” ( Ke Ma market)
from there, you jump on a funky looking bicycle/pushcart, and tell them
‘boxing gym”, while making motions with of shadow boxing.
2.
take the underground train to Bang Su. Jump on a motorcycle taxi or cab
to “Talad Ke Ma” ( Ke Ma market) from there, you jump on a
funky looking bicycle/pushcart, and tell them ‘boxing gym”,
while making motions with shadow boxing.
The
trainers here are top notch. The Jocky Gym owner and trainers welcome
foreigners to train at the gym for a small fee. This fee is negotiable
to the amount of time you spend, and will be in the neighborhood of 300-500Baht
/day, depending how often you train. They will have to get to know a person
before
committing to train someone for a long period of time. If you are accepted,
you will have the opportunity to learn from them, and train with some
of the finest Muay Thai boxers. The trainers are at an extremely high
level of mastery of Muay Thai. The proof is their ongoing record of success
with their stable of fighters.
One
of the more famous boxers at Jocky Gym is Jean Charles Skarbowsky. JCS,
the feared French man, had been busy with fights overseas, but misses
the fights in Bangkok. At the time of this profile, he is preparing for
AJKF July 22, 2004 (All Japan Kickboxing Federation). Here, Jean Charles
will meet
Katoh of Japan, a dangerous Japanese Thai boxer, who knocked out Kaolarn
Kaovichit, for the vacant WPMF World Title, earlier this year. Katoh KO’d
Kaolarn in the 2nd round of the bout, in Lumpini Stadium. Good Luck JCS!
(JCS WON this fight, TKO rnd 4 I believe)
Another
foreigner fighting at Jocky Gym is Turkish/Australian Timor Daal. Timor
has been training at Jocky Gym for over 8 eight years, and had fought
all over Asia.
Other
superstars of this camp are Lerdsila Chumpaetour.
Lerdsila is the former Rajadamnern Stadium Champion at 115lbs, 118lbs
and is the CURRENT Rajadamnern Champion at 122lbs. Lerdsila is known for
his awkward style and superior quickness, to frustrate his opponents ,
and dismantle them.
To
say the least, Seanchai SorKingstar is arguably THE most talented boxer
in Thailand, pound for pound, today. Seanchai is ranked #1 in Rajadamnern
Stadium 122lbs, former Lumpini Stadium Champion at 122lbs, and holds a
PABA Boxing Champion title at 122lbs as well. The fight between the 122lbs
Champion of
Rajadamnern (Anuwat Kaewsamrit) has been highly publicized, where Seanchai
must give up weight to Anuwat. Nothing has been finalized. Seanchai struggles
to find opponents at his level, and is forced to give up several lbs to
even up odds, only to dominate his opponents. (June.27.2006 * Seanchai has
moved Gyms several months ago. )
And
as if this camp doesn’t have a full stable of fighters fighting in
Rajadamnern Stadium, Kaoklai Kaenorasing fills in as the heaviest fighter
in the camp. Kaoklai is a former Rajadamnern Stadium Champion at 154lbs.
He currently is ranked #2. Kaoklai’s last fight, he weighed in at
78kgs, where his opponents were 80-103kgs.
Kaoklai
Keanorasing is the K1 Seoul Korea 2004 Winner, where he used over a decade
of Muay Thai experience to beat 3 heavyweight opponents, in 1 night!
Plus,
Chawarit Jockey Gym at 154lbs, has been well represented in the international
scene of Muay Thai. Having fought (LOSS) vs Shane ‘Choppa’ Chapman,
earlier this year in New Zealand, Chawarit is ranked #4 in Rajadamnern Stadium,
at the time of this profile. The stable also houses Sornkom JockyGym, the
current Rajadamnern Stadium Champion at 135lbs.
The
trainers welcome foreign fighters to try out the gym. If you are accepted,
you will have the opportunity to learn from them, and train with some
of the finest Muay Thai boxers, today.
